Mineral King Valley
Mineral King is in the Sequoia National Park in CA. After going through Three Rivers I had to drive up a narrow, windy road for 25 miles until I got the valley. I hiked up Farewell Gap trail past Aspen Flats. The fall colors were in full swing. I only got past Franklin Creek's cascades because I only had a few hours here. Some of the shots are from the recreational area just west of Three Rivers. What a wonderful place. I definitely need to come back!

This brightly-colored medley of aspen trees illustrates the influence and beauty of seasonal changes. Aspen groves are actually a single living organism sharing the same genetic material. They are effectively clones. Aspen roots sprout in all directions and new trees grow from those roots. Aspen are very common in the Western United States, particularly in the Sierra and Rocky mountain ranges.
